You&#8217;ll see&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">&#8220;You Want <em>How<\/em> Much?&#8221;<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">To enter each one as a fee-paying visitor is quite expensive.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">For instance, the textile mill entrance fee is <strong>\u00a318.35<\/strong> per person.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Having said that, it&#8217;s completely worth the cost just to see the old cotton mills working. And there&#8217;s much more than that.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">But\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_803\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-803\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidwithington.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Nine-Pounds.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-803 size-thumbnail\" src=\"http:\/\/www.davidwithington.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/Nine-Pounds-150x150.png\" alt=\"Nine pounds\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-803\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A mere 9 pound<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The National Trust membership costs just <strong>\u00a39<\/strong> per month per couple.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">So&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Let me work that out&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Should we buy 2 tickets on the door for <strong>\u00a336.70?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Or should we pay <strong>\u00a39<\/strong> per month for both of us to visit as many of the National Trust\u2019s facilities as we feel like?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">It doesn&#8217;t take much brain-power to work it out, does it?<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Here\u2019s the problem though\u2026<\/span><\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_805\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-805\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidwithington.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/target-1551492_640.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-805\" src=\"http:\/\/www.davidwithington.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/target-1551492_640-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"Too good to be true\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/davidwithington.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/target-1551492_640-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/davidwithington.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/target-1551492_640.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-805\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Too good to be true<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Sometimes bargains like this look too good to be true.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">So we ignore them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">We had the same problem when we found an energy provider offering us a deal which was 25% cheaper (<a title=\"Cheaper Energy? No Thank You!\" href=\"http:\/\/www.davidwithington.com\/blog\/cheaper-energy-no-thank-you\/\">I blogged about it here<\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">At first I thought I was missing something.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Then I thought it was a scam. Especially when they also promised to give us some cash back too.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">But thankfully it was on Martin Lewis\u2019 Money Saving Expert website. So after checking it out, we went ahead and locked in cheaper energy bills for the next two years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Shortly afterwards lots of energy prices went up. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">So if we\u2019d procrastinated, we\u2019d certainly be kicking ourselves now.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Waiting For The Bargain<\/span><\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_806\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-806\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidwithington.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/icon-1549619_640.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-806\" src=\"http:\/\/www.davidwithington.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/icon-1549619_640-300x286.png\" alt=\"We were hoping for a free month\" width=\"300\" height=\"286\" srcset=\"https:\/\/davidwithington.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/icon-1549619_640-300x286.png 300w, https:\/\/davidwithington.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/icon-1549619_640.png 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-806\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">We were hoping for a free month<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">With the National Trust, though, we were waiting for a good bargain. You know, a free month\u2026 or something like that.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">So I rang them up and asked.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">If you don\u2019t ask, you don\u2019t get, do you?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u201cErr, will you be having any special joining offers?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u201cSorry, no,\u201d came the reply.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">The girl on the other end of the phone-line continued in her friendly, chatty Scouse accent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u201cBut the price will be going up in a few days.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u201cErr, oh, OK, thank you.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Well, that settled it. No point waiting for any &#8220;special deal&#8221;.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Jump In Quickly!<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">So I headed over to Quidco so we could get \u00a35.50 in cash back (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidwithington.com\/blog\/paid-for-shopping\/\">here\u2019s my blog post about Quidco<\/a>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">And from there to National Trust to sign up, print off the temporary pass, and plan where to visit on the following day.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_800\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-800\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidwithington.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/binoculars-1026425_640.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-800\" src=\"http:\/\/www.davidwithington.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/binoculars-1026425_640-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"binoculars\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/davidwithington.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/binoculars-1026425_640-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/davidwithington.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/binoculars-1026425_640-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/davidwithington.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/03\/binoculars-1026425_640.jpg 640w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-800\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">They sent us some binoculars to say thank you<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">They even sent us a pair of binoculars to say thank you for paying by direct debit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">So, listen\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">It pays to be cautious. Just ask any genuine pensions advisor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">But once you\u2019ve checked out the facts, usually it pays to move quickly to lock in the bargain.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">We Didn&#8217;t Really Pay \u00a39<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Oh&#8230; did I tell you we didn\u2019t actually pay \u00a39 per month?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Nope\u2026 that\u2019s the new price.
