font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Encourage someone<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Teach someone<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Share your knowledge.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Why?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">&#8216;Cos I might be in that same room &#8211; and I want to <em>learn<\/em> from you!<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; Why are you vertically challenged then?&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Hey! I might have stopped growing physically. But I&#8217;ve certainly not stopped growing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Here&#8217;s how&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">I&#8217;m always trying to&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">learn something<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">discover new things<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">challenge myself<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">push out of that comfort zone<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">start new adventures<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">And that&#8217;s why I love this quote:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">If you are the smartest person in the room, then you are in the wrong room.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">It&#8217;s because there are so many people in this world that I can learn from.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 18pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">How Can I Learn From Those Smart People?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Good question.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">I&#8217;ll share a few ideas, then I&#8217;ll tell you about one thing I&#8217;ve done.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Ask someone to mentor you<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Follow an expert online, on social media, read their blogs, listen to their podcasts<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Join a professional society<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Shadow a colleague at work<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">No, not one of those&#8230;!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">I joined The <a href=\"http:\/\/davidwithington.com\/cma\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Content Marketing Academy<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">&#8220;Why?&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Because someone suggested it might be a good fit for me.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">&#8220;So you joined because of that?&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Nope &#8211; but it helped.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">You see&#8230; at first, I was quite reluctant.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">&#8220;Why?&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Well&#8230; I wasn&#8217;t a business owner. I did blogging more as a hobby. My income from affiliate marketing was very little. And there was a cost to join.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">And perhaps most importantly&#8230; I feared that everyone in the CMA would be smarter than me so I wouldn&#8217;t fit in.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3441\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3441\" style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/davidwithington.com\/cma\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3441\" src=\"http:\/\/davidwithington.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/CMA-logo.png\" alt=\"CMA\" width=\"500\" height=\"279\" srcset=\"https:\/\/davidwithington.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/CMA-logo.png 600w, https:\/\/davidwithington.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/CMA-logo-300x168.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3441\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Will everyone in the CMA be smarter than me?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Can you see where I&#8217;m going with this?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">So I asked the founder, Chris Marr.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Isn&#8217;t it great when someone answers your questions honestly, with your benefits in mind? That&#8217;s what Chris did. That&#8217;s when it became a win-win.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">I decided to give the membership a try.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">I joined.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">And this is my third year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Why am I telling you this? To get you to join too?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Nope &#8211; but if you do any type of content marketing, I would encourage you to <a href=\"http:\/\/davidwithington.com\/cma\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">join<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">But I do want you to seriously consider joining a well-run society in your niche or profession, which attracts people who are much bigger, much smarter, and much more experienced than you are.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">In the Content Marketing Academy, not only have I learned loads through the members&#8217; training, the workshops, the feedback, and\u00a0the challenges to consistency and excellence&#8230; but also from direct contact with the helpful members, many of whom I now regard as friends. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">When I ask a question, someone comes back to me with pearls of wisdom.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">And I&#8217;ve even been able to help a few people too.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Hey, doesn&#8217;t that make you feel good when <em>you&#8217;re<\/em>\u00a0considered to be the smartest person in the room for just a few minutes?<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 18pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Grow in Your Room<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">So if you&#8217;re serious about growing, I&#8217;d suggest you too join something that&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Has helpful people who are smarter than you<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Has a good training programme<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Costs you something<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">So, go and find that room with the smart people in it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Always stay in that over-sized jacket.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">And always be growing.<\/span><\/p>\n<span class='bctt-click-to-tweet'><span class='bctt-ctt-text'><a href='https:\/\/twitter.com\/intent\/tweet?url=https%3A%2F%2Fdavidwithington.com%2Fsmartest-person-in-room-in-over-sized-jacket%2F&#038;text=It%27s%20never%20too%20late%20to%20learn%2C%20grow%2C%20develop%2C%20explore.%20Here%27s%20a%20great%20way%20to%20go%20about%20it...%20&#038;via=thabacus&#038;related=thabacus' target='_blank'rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">It&#039;s never too late to learn, grow, develop, explore.
